THE HISTORY
In 1912 the popular German doll designer Käthe Kruse established these workshops in Bad Kösen in order to produce her world-famous dolls until
1950 which she managed until her departure. Thereafter, dolls were still produced until 1964 while production of plush animals began parallel in the late 50s.
Since the new owners, the Schache family, took over in 1992, they built on the original tradition and reached new artistic heights.

THE PROMOTION
- Since 2006, Kösen has been supporting the NABU (Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.) project '
Welcome Wolf'.
- Since 2005, Kösen has been working together with the Heinz Sielmann Trust to preserve the remaining
sanctuaries of rare animal and plant species in order to develop a positive attitude towards nature in people, especially in children and adolescents.
- Since 2000, Kösen has been supporting the Friends of Galapagos in their conservation aims
- Since 1999, purchasers of limited edition animals receive a signed and numbered certificate for collectors with
an invitation to register their acquisition and obtain a free animal
- From 1996 to 1999, Kösen sponsored the Conservation in Action programme of London Zoo - part of Kösen's
sales proceeds were donated to the Registered Charity; consumers purchasing Kösen life-like animals in the UK received a certificate
- monthly sponsorship of the readers page in the Teddy Bear Club International magazine during 1997/98
